Oshiomhole denies impregnating 16-year-old AAU, Ekpoma Student
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, on Monday, denied reports that he impregnated a 16- year old girl.
News of the People Magazine, a publication by Dockland Communications Limited, had last year published a story alleging that the governor was dating an under-aged girl and had impregnated her.
Oshiomhole subsequently sued Dockland Communications Limited, asking for an unspecified amount of money as damages for the publication.
While testifying as first prosecution witness in a suit between him and Dockland Communications Limited, in a Benin High Court on Monday, the governor said that the story, with the headline ‘Oshiomhole’s Sex Power Exposed: Impregnates young girl six months after death of wife’, which was published on the front page of the magazine last year, impugned his character.

What is your take on this Dr. Sign Fireman?
I came across Dr. Sign Fireman when someone on a BB group I am in put up a picture of a poster advertising his church. The bold heading was "All the HOT GIRLS in Lagos attend Dr. Fireman's church....apart from you!
The advert was done in hot pink with lots of girls in different shapes on the poster. When I first saw it, I thought it was an advert for a show till I took another look at it and was shocked at the wordings.
Me, being my usual curious self, googled him and came across this documentary from "Unreported World - Channel 4" Titled 'Nigerian Millionaire Preachers'
It's such a great documentary, I wanted to share it with the whole world.
Please watch and tell me what you think of this guy.

King of the Jungle
Tall, strong built, blessed with the complexion of the gods; he was the king of the jungle.
He protected his princess like his life depended upon it, he fought off the savages others called bullies. The gods favoured him in the battle field with a shiny sword which he swayed perfectly with his left hand. He was the desire of every woman.
His thunderous voice sent fear into the spine of the savages and made the ladies giddy with the sweetness of the sound. The princess had a choice place although she was quite shy of the king, she was always confident and fearless when he was around. No savage was bold enough to make fun of her or pull on her hair in the presence of the king.
Unfortunately, his princess was taken away only 2 years after. I don't know how he handled it but I know that after little 6 year old Onayimi was whisked away from Kingsley, the class monitor of Primary 1, Utua Primary School, Igarra and went to live with her Aunt; she soon forgot him but never met another love like him.

April Fools Stunt gone bad.
It was 11pm on the 31st of March and I was sleeping after a long drive through terrible traffic from the Island where we just had my younger sister's birthday bash.
My phone beeped; it was an sms from my boyfriend. It read 'Something came up, and I'm on my way to Benin. Moving with a friend, got a night bus, Be good'.
At first, I wanted to ignore it because I was almost certain it was an April Fools stunt, afterall, he doesn't travel by night buses. On a second thought, I decided to call him so that he wouldn't feel I didn't care about him. So, I called him but he didn't pick up. I got agitated as I really wanted to sleep and called a couple of his friends. I called his dad when his friends didn't pick up and subsequently, his brother when even his dad wasn't picking up.
I asked his brother what issues were at home and he told me about them and said he didn't know his brother had any plans to come home. I told him I thought my boyfriend was playing a bad April Fools stunt on me but I wasn't sure anymore. So I kept trying to call him all night but he just wasn't picking up his phone.
By 5.20am on April 1st, my phone rang with the special ring tone I set for him and he was sounding like he was in a lot of pain. He said he was involved in a ghastly motor accident and was in Ore with a broken arm.
But I told you never to travel at night! How could you have risked your life so much, why on earth haven't you been picking your calls and please stop playing this silly games already where some of the thoughts that raced through my mind when he told me. But I calmed myself and told him that I thought he was playing a stunt on me all the while until I called his brother and he confirmed that there were issues at home.
He laughed and said 'April Fool!'
I didn't find it funny at all. I think April Fools jokes should be short, witty and interesting and they shouldn't keep people in suspense for too long. I also think they should be played between the speculated time between 12am and 12noon on April 1st and not before.
I sincerely think people have taken this April fools thing too far. I'm not mad at him, just sad that he doesn't love me as much as I thought otherwise, he'll be concerned about me to let me go through all that pain for no reason.
He's been apologizing and telling me how much he feels bad, but really, I just feel hurt and betrayed...really thought he loved me too much to do this for an ordinary Aprilfools day.

When Sweet turns Sour
I was about 14 and had been chosen to represent my school in a local debate competition holding in the all Boys Secondary in my locality. I was quite excited and took my time to comb my hair, wear my best pair of socks and iron my school uniform perfectly. I was looking very smart and excited when I stepped out of my house that great October morning.
When I got to the school, we waited for over 4 hours before the event eventually started but when it did, the pace was very fast. The next thing I heard was 'Anthonia Bokesh, representing...' 'oh my gosh, that's me. I got up and flashed my well practiced smile even though there were so many butterflies flying all around my stomach and my heart was pounding louder than ever.
The topic was 'Is Nigeria Ripe Enough for a Female President?' Christ, please help me remember all the great females that have made history in the world, I prayed.
I climbed the podium and represented my school in my tiny shrill voice, naming all the great women like they were my aunties and sisters. The fear disappeared immediately I started and I made a wonderful presentation.
At the end of it, I had became the hero, the pride of my school, the brightest child as I was greeted with a resounding ovation.
I was all smiles as the presents were presented to me as the school's representative. At the time I took my prize and started walking home, it was quite late and about 10 boys were fighting to walk with me. Eventually, one of them who was most respected and feared (I think he was a prefect) walked me home. I didn't say much to him because in as much as I could represent on a stage, I was very shy of boys.
About 20 minutes from my house, I suddenly saw my Aunt walking towards me, oh my gosh! I'm done for was all I could think but really, I wasn't expecting the slaps and kicks that followed as she cried and kept screaming 'Onayimi, you won't kill me! I've been very worried, waiting and now on my way to look for you in that school and here you her frolicking with a boy'!. Of course, before I could say jack, the boy had ran away and left me to the mercy of my Aunt.
I'd never been more embarrassed all my life. All my attempt to explain to her that the event started and ended late and that I didn't even know the guy walking me home fell on deaf ears. It was a huge anti climax for me and it was made worse when I got to school the next day and discovered that the news already got to school. Till date, I don't know how people got to know in school but I was teased about it for a long time.

Thief Ole! Give me my money!
Give me my money, you must give me my money today oh
I turned at these words and saw the teenage girl in her school uniform. She was dragging an Agbero (street urchin) who doubled as a conductor for a commercial bus. I got scared for this girl and imagined what could happen to her if someone doesn't intervene immediately; she could either get battered by this man, shoved and pushed or he could just drive away leaving her in tears.
'Hey you' I called her up, she turned with her tear stained face and continued to drag the Agbero for her money. I could imagine that could be her transport back home. 'Hey', I called again, 'come with me, I'll give you the money'. I saw the unbelief in her eyes that came with relief. She threw a few curses at him and joined me still crying and cleaning her face.
I didn't bother to ask her what happened before handing her a N500.00 note. That should do for transportation and lunch I thought to myself. 'Thanks' was all she could say and she mumbled, 'he stole my N50'. I simply smiled to myself, N50 for all that trouble!
Really, sometimes it's not about the amount, it's the feeling of being cheated that is so painful.
Hungry Police Men!
It's no news that our Nigerian Police look and act very hungry especially at this time of the year. They look everywhere to make extra money for the festivities. Each time I see these 'men of the road', I'm filled with mixed feelings... Do I pity them or do I despise them.
On my way to work this morning, my friends dropped me off at a spot where they and many other vehicles drop people off and as I was walking away, a lady notified me that my friends' car has been blocked by police men trying to extort some money from them. In shock, I turned back to show some support to them while the police men were commanding my friends to open the car door so that they could jump in.
Knowing the Nigerian police, my friends refused to let them in but kept trying to talk some sense into them while I tried to call my security to see if they could help us out of the fix. The Police men stubbornly refused to bulge even as more and more people were stopping by, dropping people off with no reaction from these guys whatsoever.
Eventually, some guy with a military sticker stopped by and spoke with the police men. They listened this time and decided to let us to.
To lighten the mood, I jovially said 'Shakara, Shakara' in Fela's language and one of them suddenly took offense.
Looking like one little spoilt and greedy child who just unwrapped a piece of stolen candy only to find it empty; he looked at me with tears almost streaming down his eyes and said 'is it me you're calling Shakara' and went ahead to report to my friends like a child will report to mummy and daddy. Maybe he was hoping for another candy, I can't say, but it suddenly hit me that these people never ever see the fun in anything. I've never been able to make a police man laugh at a joke or smile unless I give them gifts.
Na wa for our Police oh!

My Hero
The Villain turned out to be My Hero.
No, not a real hero, just a hero on my mind and in my heart.
When I was a little girl of 10, I left my parents to go to school and live with my Aunt. It wasn't a bad experience for me, my Aunt was good, kind and loving; almost pampering. Life with her was good but for one snag; The BULLIES at my school. I hated those bullies, the boys, the big girls who will pull my hair, make fun of my tight dress, laugh at my tiny shrill voice and call my face 'swollen'. Most of them were older and bigger than me as well as stronger.
All of a sudden, I started missing my younger brother, he became the hero in my heart, I thought about him when those bullies tried to get into a fight with me, I'd wish he was there to defend me. Suddenly, he became larger than life on my mind, he was powerful, muscular, tall and a super hero. The thought of him made me survive those bullies and fortunately never got into a fight with them.
Ironically, he was never any of those things when we lived together and until now, I still wonder why he became my super hero when I needed one.

Christmas was fun
It was a lot of fun for Christmas. I didn't travel, I spent the holidays here in Lagos with Origin.
We did a lot of fun things together, went to the beach, a christmas party and spent a lot of time just lazing away either at his place or at mine.
It was a nice time to get to know him more and get closer to him. Yes, there were things I discovered about him which I really didn't like and I'm sure there were things he discovered about me too which weren't so pleasant but on the long run, it's all good. It made us stronger and love each other more.
I met Lewis just before the holidays, sort of became friends with him and almost got distracted a little but it's all over now and am all for my Origin. Wouldn't even think of anybody else.
Pictures are not uploading now but will sure upload when it does.

The world is too big
When I was about 15, I had a friend in my class who seemed to know everything about the world.
In short, she seemed to be totally world-wise.
She always felt she had so much to teach me and I looked at her in awe and wonderment because i felt she knew them all.
Now, Auntie knew about Benedicta because she made it a duty to know all my friends.
It was Benedicta's birthday and she was going to have a party, (I never had birthday parties!) she invited me over and I told her that I would like to attend but I wasn't sure if Auntie will let me.
She looked at me with pity the way she always did and told me that when I finally got out, the world will be too big for me to handle.
I didn't quite understand what she meant by that. I went home and asked Auntie if I could attend Benedicta's birthday and as usual, she turned down my request. I felt bitter and told her that Benedicta said the world will be too big for be to handle one day.
Auntie was so mad at me, I can't quite remember but I think she did slap my face. But one thing I remember, she warned me never to be seen with Benedicta again. She said I mustn't go close to her again and I must avoid her like a plague. She went as far as telling one of my teachers to watch out for me and make sure I never move around with Benedicta because she's a bad influence.
I never told Benedicta what Auntie said but I guess she got the hint and noticed I was avoiding her. She asked me if I'd been forbidden from speaking with her and I lied that I hadn't. What she meant in essence was that, I was so ignorant, I'll most probably get lost in the world which will be too large, complicated and strange for me to understand. I'll most probably snap, try out all bad things and totally loose it.
True to her word, the world was a little too large for me when I just started going out, I was naive, overly trusting, totally innocent and gullible, but I never ever lost it. I took the lessons learnt from home with me. Even though I trusted people, I never let them hurt me.
Today, I guess the world is just big enough for me.

The Man-Eating Dog
When I was 10, My Aunt protected me from the harsh realities of life as much as possible.
She practically built an impenetrable wall between the world and I. The only movies I was encouraged to see were Cosby shows, news and a few others. Other programs were heavily guided and even my friends were screened before I was allowed to hang out with them. I mean, I couldn't go for birthday parties, go to church on my own etc..
I had this friend, Mariam who she approved of at the beginning because she was her own friend's daughter. Mariam and I became pretty good friends until one day... Auntie was going out and as usual locked the house gate and went away with the key. That way, I could come out to the balcony but not into the main compound.
Before she left, she explained that she was locking me in because there was a man-eating-dog on the loose. The dog ate only children and girls of around my age. They'd been trying to capture the dog for a while and every soldiers attempt had proved abortive, she said there's a price tag on the dog for any soldier who is able to capture it; so, I needed to stay inside, so that I won't get eaten up by this fierce dog.
About an hour later, Mariam who was around my age mate came visiting. I couldn't let her in because I didn't have the key to the gate and I was scared for her because she was exposing herself to the man-eating-dog. I told her about it and she looked at me like I was stupid and she said, "you mean you believe that dumb story, can't you see through, she said that so that you won't come out! There aren't no man-eating-dogs anywhere, if there were, it will be in the news. I've been out all day long and still will be out tomorrow, how could you be so gullible!"
I didn't quite believe she was right, I thought she probably hadn't been told about the Man-Eating-Dog because, it never crossed my mind my Aunt could be lying to me.
When Auntie came back, I told her Mariam was around and she isn't aware of the Man-Eating-Dog; Mariam didn't even believe me at all and thinks it's all bullshit. I'd never seen Auntie angrier all my life. She was so mad and forbade me from ever speaking, hanging out or being friends with Mariam again. Reason, she was too wise for me! Ironically, when she said that, I suddenly saw my stupidity and knew Mariam was saying the truth afterall.
These things make me laught today when I remember them. It wasn't so much fun back then, but as I think about it, maybe it was for the better. I was lucky enough to escape a lot of trouble my mates got into at very tender ages.

Save the Best for Last
When I was a little girl, one of my favourite songs was Vanessa Williams' 'Save The Best For Last'.
It has always been beautiful to me but it has never held as much meaning for me as it does today, because tell you what, I'm in my late 20's and for the first time in my life, I'm really dating! That is how late a bloomer I am.
Ok, I've had friends, I've attempted dating, I've been involved, but I mean, for the first time, I'm with a guy who I truely love, want to have kids with and cherish every moment together. I can use the word 'Love' comfortably for the first time and can actually see a future with a beautiful and complete family with only one man.
I thought this was never going to happen to me, thought it only happened in the books and romance novels but here I am, really loving and really being loved. This is the most beautiful time of my life and I'm so thankful to God.
Sure, He does save the Best for Last.

The Villain
That Boy!
My younger brother was a villain. You can't blame him in a home where there are 7 females and 2 males.
He was the last male child as well as my immediate younger brother. I sort of liked him when we were growing up but felt bad that he'll rather hang out with his male peeps than of me.
I remember something he did which I don't think I've forgiven him for because I still want to revenge, even though it's been about 20 years. I was about 6 and he just finished using the toilet. I went in while he was still there and for the fun of it, I asked him how he'll feel if I locked him in. He laughed heartily and told me he knew I'll never do something that wicked to him, which was true. But can you believe the irony of it all, he excused himself immediately and locked me in!
Wasn't I scared. I imagined everything that could happen to me, I imagined a dragon coming out of the toilet and burning me up. I imagined maggots suddenly filling the toilet, as if that wasn't bad enough, I suddenly saw a roach which was a nights mare to me *and still is* I imagined snakes, every scary thing in the whole world and as I imagined, I screamed for help. Unfortunately, I had a tiny voice and nobody could heard me. I was locked up for over 2 hours until my sisters started missing and looked for me. They found me locked up in the toilet and the culprit,.. he had totally forgotten his evil deeds and was playing away his life with his silly friends.
I don't think he ever realized how long I stayed in that prison neither did he know how traumatic that experience was for me, but one day, just one day, I'll tell him, he'll know the pain and fear I felt then as a little six year old, but how do I go about that to achieve the exact effect that experience had on me. He's got to suffer as much as I did

The Toasters
I was about 16 when the toasters started trooping in. There were the smart ones; the stupid ones, the nice ones; the outrightly annoying ones, the sweet ones and of course; the bitter ones.
I particularly remember Kingsly. He was an interesting guy, I didn't know he was ever going to ask me out. I thought he was just intelligent and interesting. Then, when i was about 17, he dropped the bomb. This guy was so much older than me and I didn't think twice before I said NO.
I still wonder why I was so so shy of guys, why they had so much strength over me. I used to stay awake for hours at night thinking I was hurting him. I felt remorseful that I said no, yet, I never said yes. I thought he loved me too much and I had broken his heart for saying no. Yet, I still said no.
I was pretty strong you'll say. I was stubborn and I knew what I wanted even though I was so confused.
Interestingly, I used to get really turned on if a guy as much as told me I looked pretty. I mean, I still wonder up till now, how on earth I was able to stay away from sex or from getting myself hurt. I was so easily turned on, guess it was all the romantic books I filled my head with. I don't know how on earth I managed to escape the bad boys.
Maybe the novels helped, maybe I was looking for the perfect guy before getting into anything that I'll regret and of course I always had my family at the back of my mind. I didn't want to disappoint anyone especially my sisters whom I respected a lot. Equally, didn't want to be a disgrace to God and the blessed virgin Mary. She was my role model of some sort and I wanted to be good.
Today, I wonder a lot what my daughters will be like when I have them.
